America OnLine (commonly abbreviated as AOL) is one of the oldest of the major internet companies.

Time-Warner Acquisition
AOL acquired Time-Warner in 2000 on stock value leverage, after much scrutiny and federal investigation into the merger. However, over time, Time-Warner once again became a more valuable company than AOL and the two began to slowly drift apart.
Verizon Acquisition
Verizon acquired AOL in 2015.
