Behaviour
Behaviour is the causal actions carried out by individuals of a species. For example, consider the story of the lazy horse and the stick... in which a lazy horse may refuse to move without reward, however will chase a carrot strung upon a stick if placed in front of them; the horse recognizes the carrot as food and this causes them to move towards it; the actions are manipulated by the rider holding the stick and tempting the horse.
Throughout history, people in positions of power and influence have sought to effect and/or control the behaviour of other people. Most people in modern societies certainly exert behavioural control over animals and nature, through the use of technology.
A more obvious example is the desire of marketers and advertisers to control the behaviour of an audience exposed to their ads and marketing messages.
