Cascading StyleSheets (CSS) is the de facto standard for creating stylized elements within a web page. It uses a rendering engine within the browser to apply styles to particularly named web components (identified either through an id or class attribute. CSS can be added to any HTML document by including a reference to the external CSS file as follows (note that the reference should be within the head section):

<head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="mystyle.css" /> </head>

Alternatively, it can also be applied in-line through an optional style attribute, which can be included on most standard HTML web tags.
