Open Handset Alliance

The Open Handset Alliance (commonly abbreviated OHA) is a group of major industry players - lead by Google and its Android initiative - to create an open source platform for mobile devices bringing together developers and companies producing mobile technologies.

Similarity to Japanese Ecosystem

At least one analyst and academic leader in the industry has likened Google's Android and the OHA to the existing Japanese Mobile Ecosystem.
