Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID)

Radio Frequency IDentification (commonly abbreviated RFID) is an identification technology (or possibly, nanotechnology) that is used for tracking the location of specific objects (whether mobile or non-mobile, animate or inanimate).

It typically consists of a small (or even microscopic) chip which is capable of emitting a faint albeit trackable signal which is then picked up by a Wireless Sensor Network or other signal reception/identification system.
