WebM
From BC$ MobileTV Wiki
WebM (originally known as, and still often referred to as VP8) is a video codec and playback format created by Google. It is expected to be released as an entirely open-source, royalty-free video encoding and playback solution.[1]
In fact, VP8 is (at the time of writing) still the official name of the video container/codec itself, while WebM now encapsulates the entire open video/audio format published and supported by Google (through development and publisher encoding tools).
