Blackberry is the flagship brand of RIM mobile devices. It is characterized as a business-focused mobile product line, with very strong Email and a one of the first phones to boast a full QWERTY keyboard. RIM also has a number of Blackberry SmartPhone offerings which are very popular world-wide.
Contents
Models
All BlackBerry devices have a signature style, look and feel. The keyboards are one of the defining factors, and a Blackberry was one of the first mobile devices to incorporate a full QWERTY keyboard. Even their first line that lacked a physical QWERTY, the touch-screen ( Storm) line, bears a striking resemblance to the original devices:
Some of the most popular lines include:
Pearl
Bold
Curve
WorldEdition
The first to support all major 3G standards (CDMA/UTMS/EVDO/GMS)
Torch
The first sliding keyboard line:
Storm
The first touch-screen only line (without a physical keyboard):
Playbook
The Playbook is the first (and possibly last) line of tablets from BlackBerry:
While they received mixed reviews upon launch, they garnered a loyal following and boasted specs which were quite cutting-edge at the time. To date, performance of Blackberry Playbooks were comparable to iPads and Android Tablets, however they are now being surpassed at an increasing rate as support has officially ended[1] and no further upgrades to the platform are being done by Blackberry. Key features include: Flash support, Mobile Video (Streaming), BB Messenger, Video Chat, Gaming, Accelerometer (which can be used as an input to games/apps), MicroHDMI (to hook up to a larger screen) BB Bridge (which allows you to pair your BB phone and use it as a mouse to control the tablet remotely, ideal for when the tablet is hooked up to a TV, Computer Monitor or Projector), among others. The weakest point of the Playbook though, and the most complained about problem is the complete lack of leading apps that you can find on the other main platforms (iOS & Android).

Research In Motion
Research In Motion (RIM), is the former name of Blackberry, one of the world's leading manufacturers of Mobile Devices and handset related technologies (hardware, accessories and software).[24]
On January 30th, 2013[25] set to coincide with the introduction of the BlackBerry 10, RIM officially changed their name to BlackBerry (which was previously just the brand name of their successful mobile phone line).
About
"Through the development of integrated hardware, software and services that support multiple wireless network standards, RIM provides platforms and solutions for seamless access to time-sensitive information including email, phone, text messaging (SMS and MMS), Internet and intranet-based applications."
Mission
From the corporate website: "What is the RIM vision/mission statement? RIM does not have a vision/mission statement that is publicly available."[27]
