In 2009, Apple's infamous CEO Steve Jobs announced the iPad, a large-screen mobile device (or small-screen notebook/PC, depending on who you ask). While initially quite popular the iPad was short lived. In 2011 Apple announced that iPad and iPod Touch product lines would be essentially merged after the release of the iPod Touch Generation 5 (G5)[4] and support for legacy iPods dropped as many analysts expected[5].
Critics have said that the iPad is nothing more than a giant iPod with higher resolution and in some cases worse battery life. Research seems to have concluded that this is true, at least the iPad1 and iPad2 generation devices. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]
