Long Term Evolution (commonly abbreviated LTE) is a term used to describe the next generation of wireless networks (so-called 4G, for Fourth Generation Wireless Network). It primarily involves an upgrade to the core technology of the existing wireless spectrum designed for cellphones and other specially equipped mobile devices (wireless data network).
