Mac is the abbreviated name for the Macintosh Operating System (currently in version 10 and abbreviated using the roman numeral "X", as in OS X) and accompanying hardware by Apple.

MacBook is a line of portable computing devices from Apple. Each of the computers run a version of the Mac Operating System, with the latest versions running OS X iterations. The line has frequently been referred to as Apple's answer to PC-based laptop computer systems (typically sold with Microsoft's Windows Operating Systems).

Mission Control

"Mission Control" is a view of all the currently open applications on your Mac. It can also have "hot corner" sections defined whereby clicking a specific region of the screen would bring up a preferred/pre-configured application that was not open yet.

Notification Center

  • Use Notification Center on Mac: (Open Notification Center: click Date/Time in Menu bar, or, "2-finger swipe left" from far-right edge of Trackpad; Close Notification Center: click anywhere on Desktop, click the Date/Time in Menu bar, or, "2-finger swipe right" towards far-right edge of Trackpad)

With Mac Catalyst, you can make a Mac version of your iPad app. Click the Mac checkbox in your iPad app’s project settings to configure the project to build both Mac and iPad versions of your app. The two apps share the same project and source code, making it easy to change your code in one place.
