A website is an access point for multimedia designed for distribution over the World Wide Web. In particular, a static website is a collection of hypertext (typically consisting mostly of text with some unchanging images, audio or video dispersed throughout), whereas a dynamic website is commonly referred to as a Web Application or CMS (depending on the context, for instance a blog or tool for posting content regularly in a linear fashion is a type of CMS whereas a custom-built news aggregator or similar service is more often categorized as a standalone WebApp).
