Wireless Fidelity (commonly abbreviated as Wi-Fi, wifi, Wireless, Wireless LAN, or WLAN) is the world's most popular consumer-facing wireless networking standard. It is found in most modern PCs, Laptops and even some mobile devices.
Standards
Wi-Fi is a catch-all term to describe the 802.11 family of IEE Standards:
- Starting with 802.11b
- 802.11e
- 802.11g
- 802.11j
- 802.11i
- 802.11s
- etc...
The above are all considered Wi-Fi standards.
